Festival Of Spring

This painting celebrates a day at the Canadian Tulip Festival here in Ottawa. People from around the globe descend on Ottawa to enjoy our many natural spaces that have been meticulously landscaped to showcase our vast array of tulips.

This little corner of Dows Lake caught my eye. I loved the contrast between the delicate white tulips and daffodils quickly bursting to life, here for only a few weeks juxtaposed to their majestic aging guardians, the trees. Their long grey arms stretching to find fresh air and sun, slowly unfurling their vibrant green leaves.
